Traveling to THE-PLACE-WITHOUT-SIBLING-RIVALRY. Where is this place? Is it a place like Paradise or Heaven where no one knows the true location? Can a place exist where there is complete honesty and trust? I am looking for a place where there is no Esau fighting his brother Jacob, and a place where Cain never killed Abel. A place where Joseph was not sold off to slavery by his brothers.
I am looking for a Thanksgiving family holiday without sibling rivalry and immature childishness, without a fight over a parent's love, a place where there is enough mother's milk to go around for all her children, and where there is no struggle to get more than one needs, more than the other sibling gets.
I gracefully bow out of the scenes of argumentativeness and wars of insult and verbal abusiveness that are stirred up by winter holidays in families that do not pray together. Not needing the negative stimulation, instead planning to feel the peacefulness of the approaching warmth of light that is emitted from the Chanukiah, the lamp which is lighted to chase away ghosts and their evil, a winter holiday of Chanukah, where the light is bright enough for everyone in every family, for all the children and their children's children, from generation to generation.
Feeling Chanukah's warmth even with Esau as a brother, and Leah as a sister. Knowing that I do not have to be number one on any Santa's list, because Santa does not exist. There will be no teeth-gripping war fought this holiday season to get so-called "love" that is not enough to go around for everyone.
One needs to depend on enormous amounts of G-d's love to make up for a lack of love from needy mortals in families. Putting an end to family wars. To follow Joseph and Jacob's guidance as they looked to G-d to fill the voids created by imperfect families.
This Thanksgiving and Chanukah, make your family a family of the thousands of angels that follow you around daily, and be in the places where G-d abides, a peaceful place: THE-PLACE-WITHOUT-SIBLING-RIVALRY.
