TODAY THE JEWISH VALENTINE'S DAY

Today is called Tu B'av, the 15th of the lunar calendar month of Av, it is like a Jewish Valentine's Day. The phase of the moon for today is a brilliant full moon, the sun's light today to be dimmed, the moon showing as a reflection of a dimmed sun, the glow from the moon as full blast. The sun's power is weakened.

Singing and dancing, merriment, a string dance, string-sing along, girls holding hands with other girls, single unmarried girls, girls who desire a husband, to be matched, only to marry one of your own.

A fellow. To never steal or collect interest from a fellow when lending money. A fellow, is yellow? Yellow that becomes Gold. Gold hypoallergenic, not to scratch the skin, not to have a rash, the gold to be pure. Your father asked, "He wants to buy you a wristwatch and a mink collar, do you want this?" "No, thanks." It is ultimately up to you, he can ask and you can say yes or no.

Like a Simchat Torah, to be dancing frolicking, holding the Torah Scrolls, an Israeli flag, to dance around and around, not get dizzy, to hold the flag high! To sing and dance the song The Hora, a song of love, endearment, affection, marriage, to talk to your beloved, to see, hear, touch, taste, smell, all senses completely aware, completely alive. To express and to receive lovingkindness. She's married already! Then not a choice. To stay as far away from adultery as possible.

A Valentines' Day? What about the color red? In the Chumash, the Jewish Bible, it says that Jewish Priests wore blue, purple and RED-colored wool. Red is a Jewish color that stems from Jewish past ritual, so feel free to wear red, as it is not only a Christian color, it is Jewish too. What does red represent? Red is the color of love, your heart, blood, traffic stop sign/light, intellectualism, heat, fire, a burning ember, a bon fire, the color of a desire, the color of a burn.

Today on this red day, do not get burned, to remember that it is your choice whom you marry, and if you agree with your matchmaker, so much the better. If not, your lover can continue to be the Lord.
