Rabbi or Santa Claus? Will the real Rabbi please stand up?
Long flowing white hair of a senior citizen, a Rabbi with many Temples, Sanctuaries where there were none before without him. A Rabbi who declares where the places are that are holy, and who are the Priests, Levis, Kohen, noble people, the Clergy, the Cantors who sing us into repentance, please God, forgive us! Teshuvah God, here is our charity, we have this to give that the poor has not. Anonymous charity, the giving to the poor without a claim of reward, but instead to have less when the poor have more. Pleading with God to change the lives of the poor and to take away our guilt as we eat when they do not.
Going to a place where the poor are gift given, a place where no one has more or less than another, a place of wealth, but wealth being the surroundings of our God, and His giving to us so we can get closer to God, to make no mistake that what we have, is all from God, and no one else.
A Rabbi with twinkling eyes, a happy smile, a chuckle, a round belly and a song to sing. No, the Rabbi is not Santa Claus, even with a white beard and white hair. Not to be frightened on Halloween by kids, for ghosts are far away as we as Jews light up the night on their days of death, yahrzeits. No sorcery, no trances allowed, re: 613 Commandments.
Thank you Rabbi for singing the Kol Nidre! We will return again and again, but better yet, we will never leave, instead to stay with Judaism all year round so will never have a reason to repent.
